The WeTeach_CS Program at UT Austin’s Center for STEM Education will be accepting applications for Computer Science Collaboratives in Texas beginning December 7, 2016. Proposals are due January 9, 2017.
Share the achievements of any teacher—including your own—student, school, administrator, counselor, or organization, etc. (you get the idea), who has had a positive impact on Computer Science education in your community with Code.org and you could be recognized at the Computer Science Education Week 2017 kickoff event in Palo Alto, CA on December 4th!
What can Counselors and Administrators do to increase student access to Computer Science classes and career pathways? Computer Science Training for Counselors & Administrators participants will learn about the national and local technology landscape, who is (and is not) involved in this fast-growing employment sector, and why diverse participation matters. This session will help school teams appreciate what computer science is, what new courses involve, and how these count toward graduation and fit with the larger school program.
Over the summer, WeTeach_CS reached and passed the 300th CS certification milestone and is now on the path to helping 500 current Texas teachers become CS certified. To celebrate, instead of throwing a party, we’ve extended the Certification Incentive Program (CIP) to cover all of the TExES CS 8-12 testing windows scheduled through August 2018.
