If you know a Texas CS teacher who goes above and beyond on a regular basis or have a project idea that needs a little financial push, then there’s no time to lose! The deadline for all 2017 WeTeach_CS Change Maker Awarrl nominations and WeTeach_CS Mini-Grant applications is April 28, 2017.
If attending WeTeach_CS events has taught us anything here in the office, it’s that Texas has some amazing, dedicated, and creative CS teachers. Then there are those who really stand out as inspirations to their students and their fellow teachers. If you happen to know one of these MVPs of CS education, then let us know by nominating them for one of the 2017 WeTeachCS Change Maker Awards. Or perhaps you have an idea for a class project or after school activity that needs a little seed money to get started, then apply today for one of the 2017 WeTeachCS Mini-Grants.
The bluebonnets are blooming and spring is in the air, which can only mean one thing—it’s time to sign up to take a WeTeach_CS Certification Prep workshop this summer!
The CS Summer Institute Facilitator Academy being hosted by the UT Dallas WeTeach_CS Collaborative is an excellent opportunity for CS Collaboratives, schools, districts, and other organizations to up their in-house CS professional development game. Participants will leave with the tools needed to lead a summer institute for teachers served by your school, district, or organization. The computational thinking concepts covered in this academy are applicable across the curriculum and even include unplugged activities, which do not require a computer.
Are you (or do you know) a 6-12th grade teacher looking for funding to attend a CS professional development program this summer? DonorsChoose.org, Infosys Foundation USA, National Science Foundation (NSF), and Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) are here to help with a new matching program!
