Thinking about getting CS certified in 2017?
WeTeach_CS just made that decision a lot easier
WeTeach_CS has extended the Certification Incentive Program (CIP) through August of 2017! This means current Texas teachers planning to take the TExES CS 8-12 Certification Test during any of the five testing windows between now and August of 2017 may be eligible for for the Certification Incentive Program (CIP), which offers a $1000 stipend to accepted teachers who obtain their CS certification. The included testing windows are in February, March, May, June, and August.

- February (2/1/17-2/4/17)
- March (3/22/17-3/25/17)
- May (5/10/17-5/13/17)
- June (6/28/17-7/1/17)
- August (8/16/17-8/19/17)
For complete information about deadlines and requirements, please read and follow all steps of the CIP Checklist. Texas teachers must meet eligibility requirements and be accepted to the program prior to testing to qualify for the $1,000 stipend.

Want to take it online?
If you want to take Certification Prep online, then register now for Foundations of Computer Science for Teachers, which begins on January 16, 2017, on EdX. This 6 week course provides extensive detailed instruction, examples and practice on everything from introductory programming topics such as variables, functions, loops and logical expressions to more advanced topics such as data structures, recursion, and object oriented programming. The course materials are free, but participants who upgrade to a verified certificate will also have access to progress tracking module quizzes, a 100 question final designed to mimic the certification exam, and 36 CPE credit hours from The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for STEM Education.
Rather get prepared in person?
No problem, we’ve got you covered! WeTeach_CS also offers Certification Prep Face-to-Face, a 2 day workshop style prep class that provides an overview of the educator competencies required of all teachers to become certified in Grades 8-12 Computer Science. Course instructors will address several competencies in depth and link attendees to additional resources that will help to prepare them to challenge the CS certification test. Registration is now open for January and March workshops being held in Houston, with more Certification Prep Face-to-Face workshops in the works for locations around Texas.
