The CS 8-12 Test Made Easier, Online!
WeTeach_CS’s on-line Certification Prep Course is designed to provide information and practice for topics covered by TEA’s CS 8-12 course. The course is recommended for currently certified, in-service teachers who want to become CS certified via the TEA’s Additional Certification By Exam method. It is also recommended that the teacher is familiar with technology application concepts and has some experience with a non-block programming language like Java or Python. Some teachers also take the similar CS 8-12 Certification Face-to-Face course. It covers similar material, but having an instructor present makes for an easier introduction for some. This can be followed up with this online course, which provides interactive exercises, practice questions and assessments.
The course is delivered synchronously, with a start date, weekly due dates and a finish date over six weeks. This allows students to work with other students and course instructors to give quick answers and help work through difficult problems. Each week includes a set of instructional videos, interactive demonstrations and other supporting content. Practice questions are presented along the way to verify your understanding. Summative Assessments are given at the end of each week and at the end of the course. You can earn 36 CPE credit hours if you meet the following requirements:
- Complete the diagnostic quiz available in week 1.
- Complete the CSC profile and survey in week 1.
- Score 80% or higher for the course.
When the course is completed and the above criteria are met, your certificate will be emailed to you.
