NCWIT is pleased to announce that their Counselors for Computing program at this year’s CS @ CSS computer science professional development week, being held from July 30 – August 1 at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, is fully funded for counselors (including travel/lodging), and there is some funding available for CS teachers as well. Counselors who are interested in learning more about computer science and/or have a special focus on equity and access to opportunities, especially career pathways are encouraged to apply. They’d especially like to encourage CS teachers and Counselors from schools to team up and attend together.
Momentum for computer science education is growing, fast! Everyone from your students’ parents to captains of industry are encouraging schools to provide opportunities for ALL students to explore computing. As new computer science courses and post-secondary pathways emerge, Counselors for Computing steps in to equip school counselors with information and resources they can use to encourage students to study computer science and explore allied careers.
About the Scholarship
Through generous support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) all expenses will be covered, including training, travel, meals, and shared on-campus accommodations. Along with their application, counselors need to supply a letter from their principal expressing support for their attendance. Those accepted will submit a $50.00 deposit to hold their spot. (Deposits are refunded upon completion of the workshop.)
